Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of Lelo – Strong Georgia, has a decision to make. The court has asked him to pay 50,000 GEL (around $16,700 USD) as bail.
Khazaradze says the Georgian Dream party is trying to discredit him. He claims they have been making up cases against him for five years. Khazaradze wants people who are being unfairly held in jail to stay strong. He promises that he and his supporters will continue to fight for their freedom and the right of Georgia to join the European Union.
Khazaradze is facing charges under Article 349 of the Criminal Code. This means he could get a fine, or be sent to prison for up to one year, or lose some rights for three years.
