Mamuka Khazaradze, the Chairman of “Strong Georgia“, told voters in Batumi that in 12 days each of you should mobilize fully and reject this bogged-down politics.
Khazaradze said that Adjara had to play a crucial role in the peaceful, but political struggle. “We must go to where our place, Georgia’s place, is. This is the West, Europe. We will take our cool features, language, faith, and everything our ancestors brought to today, we will be happy, and most importantly, we become full members of this large European family.
Batumi has a special place in my heart. I consider myself to be half Batumi. My grandmother Anna, and my grandfather Pavle (nicknamed “Jacco”) met here. If it weren’t for this meeting, I would not be here. I felt like I was going home when I visited with my sister during the summer. This city has a unique warmth, and there are people who are very special.
I must be honest, this feeling has slowly disappeared over the years because Batumi and Adjara are empty of our citizens. Our young people are leaving our country to find work abroad. I think we all know where they go to make money for their families. I will tell you some statistics – 117,000 young people aged under 30 left our country. This is a 70% rise over the previous year. Why is this happening? Why are prices so high? Why are there no job opportunities? Why does a pensioner not have a pension that allows him to not have to choose between food and medicine? Why is this happening? It’s not you. This is the outcome of 12 years of political activity that has brought this country to where it is today. Our country has been in decline over the last 30 years. This is the Russian policy that they have been repeating to us: Georgia without Georgians. This is why we have the chance today, 12 days from now, for each of you, and everyone else who listens, to mobilize and say no to this bogged-down policy, and to end the policy of “Georgian Dream“.
This road is not going anywhere. What have they been doing in the last few years? The European road was blocked by all the roads. Do you remember how our young people reacted when they were on the streets during the “Russian Law?” They used batons to run over our youth, who were out on the street to defend our freedom and sovereignty. This is a decisive fight! We, Adjara in particular, should play an important role in this peaceful, but political, struggle. Giorgi Margvelashvili – the fourth president of Georgia – joined this union. The plan we created, called “Ilia’s Road”, which the Georgian Nation should walk on, has everything written in it: starting October 27, we need to start the real reconstruction and building of our country. This includes jobs, a 1,000 GEL pension, educational reform, and a chance that our daughters, who are immigrants, feel like a great construction began in Georgia. Together, let’s build a very powerful country and we will do that together with you”, Mamuka Khazaradze said.
