**Georgia’s Political Leader Speaks Out on Funding**
Mamuka Khazaradze, the leader of “Strong Georgia“, has spoken out about the funding of political parties in Georgia. In a post on social media, he stated that anyone criticizing another opposition party must reveal where their own funding comes from.
Khazaradze was responding to comments made by some members of the opposition who were repeating the narrative of the ruling party, “Georgian Dream”. He said this is simply following the script set by the ruling party and does not reflect the views of the opposition.
**Party Funding in Georgia**
It’s worth noting that six political parties will receive state funding based on the results of recent parliamentary elections. These include:
* Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia
* United National Movement
* Coalition for Change – Gvaramia, Melia, Girchi, Droa
* For Georgia (Gakharia‘s party)
* Lelo for Georgia
* Alliance of Patriots of Georgia
* New Political Center – Girchi
The only party that declined this funding was the Coalition for Change.
**Reaction from Other Parties**
Nika Gvaramia, leader of “Coalition for Change”, criticized opposition parties on social media for accepting state funding. He said they were hypocritical to criticize others for not refusing funding while themselves taking it.
Khazaradze responded by stating that his party’s funding comes from the state budget and will stop as soon as their mandate termination requests are satisfied. Until then, the funds will be used to support those affected during protest actions and other needs.
