13 countries of European Union have publicly and officially told us that Georgia won’t be able join the European Union if its government doesn’t change course. This government will not alter its course. Therefore, we, as the people, need to change the government.
Mamuka Khazaradze points out that in a few short days, Georgia will have the chance to reject the unfulfilled promise of the past 12 years.
“Friends, our country will elect new parliaments and new governments at the end this week. In a few short days, Georgia has the chance to reject the unfulfilled promises made over the past 12 years. We should reject a government that is not serving Georgia, but Russia. We should reject a future where many Georgians are forced to leave their country. Instead, we have the chance to support ideas that are right – Europe, job growth, higher wages, pensions, opportunities for young people, and a real, coalition democracy.
Voters have two main concerns as the election draws near. First, many voters are no longer interested in politicians’ promises. Georgians have lost faith in the government after Bidzina’s unfulfilled pledges, including free money, 100 factories, and many more. I can’t promise that we will immediately restore the damage done to public confidence over the past 12 years, but I do want to tell you that you can rely on our coalition, “Strong Georgia“, which is number 9. We set three main goals for these elections: We have three main goals: 1. Pension increase to 1000 GEL 3. Implementation of mega-projects such as Anaklia Deep-Water Port and other large-scale projects.
I want to commit to you today not only what we will do but also when we will deliver on these promises. We commit that the government formed by “Strong Georgia” in the first 3 weeks will take concrete actions to achieve three priorities. First, integration into European Union. In the first 3 weeks, our Government will cancel the “Russian Law” and start implementing the 9 point plan of the European Commission requirements to ensure integration of Georgia into European Union.
2. Pensions – within the framework our coalition agreement, in the first 3 weeks we will receive a Budget that will pave way for a 1,000-GEL pension. We have a concrete strategy on how to raise the pension, which includes increasing taxes on gaming businesses and casinos. We have a concrete plan on how to increase the pension, including by increasing taxes on casinos and gaming businesses. In the first three week, we will speed up the amendments to the laws and remove the Chinese Communist Party controlled, state-owned firm from the project. We will then conduct a new tender for Anaklia Port to ensure that a company with a high reputation in the west is selected, and that the construction of Anaklia Port is completed quickly.
I also want to tell you that, according to our plan the co-owners at Anaklia Port will become citizens of Georgia. The shares of Anaklia Port will be offered to Georgian citizens. The start of Anaklia Port and Anaklia City, as well as other megaprojects will create tens of thousand jobs in Georgia.
The Anaklia Project will not only bring back a historical function to Georgia, but it will also be a project with national and international significance, creating the main state for the country and creating employment. I said at the beginning that the citizens have two main concerns, and the second thing voters tell me is the European perspective. I can understand why people are worried. This will only happen if all of you vote. If you don’t go to the polls, you will be disappointed that you missed an historic opportunity for your country. We should go to the polling stations on Saturday and show that Georgia’s soul is European, and that our future lies in Europe. Everything is in your hand on October 26. You can change the geopolitical direction of Georgia, your future, and the future of our country.
