Mamuka Mdinaradze, a leader of the Georgian Dream party, has spoken out about the recent confrontation at the Sheraton in Batumi. The incident involved Gakharia and Dmitri Samkharaidze.
There was a verbal argument between the two men, and footage shows Gakharia hitting Samkharaidze with a glass. Mdinaradze is questioning what happened next. “Was Samkharaidze’s reaction a response, or not?” he asked. If it was a response, then how is that considered an attack?
Mdinaradze stated that attacking a public official is a serious offense. He also said that the investigation will need to determine if there was a political motive behind Gakharia’s actions.
Gakharia attacked Dito Samkharaidze, according to Mdinaradze. The first act of physical violence came from him. Now, the only thing left to investigate is whether there was a political motive behind this attack. If that was the case, it would be a serious offense and an attempt to commit article 325.
