**Opposition Should Officially Give Up Parliament Seats**
The leader of the majority, Mamuka Mdinaradze, is telling opposition members to officially give up their parliament seats. This comes after they crossed a barrier at the October 26 elections.
Mdinaradze said that the statements written by the opposition refusing to enter parliament are not legally binding at this stage. He explained that these statements only have power if recognized by the newly elected Parliament of Georgia, and even then, it’s only considered official if they address the Chairman of the Parliament with the same statement.
**Waiting for Official Confirmation**
Mamuka Mdinaradze said that the opposition should wait until their authority is known before making any moves. He suspects that they might be trying to find a way out of giving up their mandates without officially doing so. If they really want to leave, he says, they should write statements saying as much.
**Parliament to Meet**
Mamuka Mdinaradze also reminded the public that President Salome Zurabishvili has a constitutional duty to schedule the first session of parliament within 10 days of official election results being announced. If she fails to do so, the parliament will meet no later than 10 days after.
