**Georgia Will Not Rush into EU Talks**
The country‘s ruling party, “Georgian Dream“, has announced that it will not start negotiations with the European Union for four years. The main reason is to avoid using this topic as a tool for blackmail.
Mamuka Mdinaradze, executive secretary of the party, made this clear on social media. He said that if there’s a decision from the EU side to start talks, they’ll put it on the table and sign an agreement right away. However, until then, the issue will not be raised.
**Condemning Violence**
Mdinaradze also spoke out against violence in all its forms. He said that everyone – including police officers, journalists, and citizens – should condemn such actions.
But he also pointed out that it’s not fair to only protest against violence towards journalists and ignore other cases of attacks, obstruction, and insults. Mdinaradze seemed to be referencing a specific incident involving a journalist from Imedi TV.
**A Clear Message**
Mdinaradze’s message was clear: Georgia will work on its European obligations for four years, but the issue of starting EU talks won’t be pushed forward until then. If the EU wants to talk, they’ll be ready today.
