Mamuka Mdinaradze, the executive secretary of “Georgian Dream”, spoke out against the opposition’s views on legitimacy.
The opposition is not interested in the OSCE/ODIHR’s position on the elections’ legitimacy. They are also not concerned with the Patriarchate‘s stance on religion or whether sanctions will be imposed. This shows a lack of logic, according to Mdinaradze.
Beka Liluashvili from “Gakharia for Georgia” said that the parliament‘s legitimacy is a political issue and OSCE/ODIHR is not a political organization.
However, Mdinaradze pointed out that the OSCE/ODIHR is the main body that issues conclusions on election legitimacy. They also create observation missions in other countries and determine if an election was competitive.
The opposition’s lack of interest in the OSCE/ODIHR’s position shows a disconnect from international standards, said Mdinaradze. He appealed to the people at the rally to choose between believing the civilized world and its approaches or following Beka Liluashvili’s views.
