**Man Detained After Alleged Attack on Draft Officer**
A man was detained by police in Poltava Oblast after allegedly shooting a draft officer and stealing his weapon. The incident happened overnight on January 31.
According to reports, an armed man approached a serviceman of the Poltava draft office at a fuel station near Pyriatyn. He threatened the soldier with a hunting rifle and demanded that he hand over his assault rifle. When the soldier refused, the attacker shot him. The soldier died on the spot from serious injuries.
The attacker then stole the soldier’s weapon and escaped with another man. Police quickly found the location of the attackers and detained one of them. His accomplice is still at large.

A criminal investigation has been launched by the prosecutor‘s office. The Ground Forces Command strongly condemned the attack and demanded a prompt investigation and severe punishment for the perpetrators.
