Estonia Wants EU to Stop Easy Travel for Georgia Citizens
The Foreign Minister of Estonia, Margus Tsahkna, made a statement in Brussels. He said that the European Union should stop making it easy for people from Georgia to travel to Europe.
This move is because of disagreements between Estonia and Georgia over the way Georgia is ruled. Estonia has put sanctions on some important leaders in Georgia, including Bidzina Ivanishvili and the Prime Minister.
Tsahkna wants the EU to follow his country’s example and make it harder for people from Georgia to travel to Europe. He believes that if 15 out of 27 EU countries agree with him, then the process can start.
This is what Tsahkna said when asked about this issue: “Yes, this issue is on the table, and starting the process requires 15 member states to show the regime that it must change its behavior.”
