**Serbian Students Cycling to Strasbourg Arrive in Austria**
A group of 80 Serbian students, who are cycling to Strasbourg to draw attention to their demands and the current situation in Serbia, arrived in the Austrian town of Melk on Tuesday afternoon. The students were greeted by a surprise performance from Italian pianist Davide Martello, who played the song “Bella Ciao” along with locals from Melk and the nearby town of Emmersdorf.
Martello’s performance was significant because he had been expelled from Serbia just days ago for playing at a student protest in the city of Nis. The students were protesting against government measures that have led to their expulsion, and Martello’s music helped to show support for their cause.
The students’ journey to Strasbourg began on April 3 from the northern Serbian city of Novi Sad. They are expected to arrive in Strasbourg on April 15 and will meet with European officials to discuss their demands. The group’s progress can be followed on the tourdestrasbourg.com website.
**Austrian Locals Show Support for Students**
The students were warmly welcomed by locals from Melk, who showed their support for the young cyclists. One local, Manuela, said: “What these young men and women are doing is commendable, I applaud them. I hope their demands will be met, and the least we can do is come out and support them.” Another local, Marija, from Temerin, also expressed her support for the students’ cause.
The students’ journey to Strasbourg has gained international attention, with many people following their progress online. The group’s determination and courage in the face of adversity have inspired many, and it will be interesting to see what impact they will have on European officials when they arrive in Strasbourg next week.
