US Company Limits Ukraine’s Satellite Access
A US company called Maxar Technologies has stopped Ukraine from using its satellite images. This was reported by a Ukrainian media outlet, Militarnyi.
The move comes after the US decided to stop sharing intelligence with Ukraine. The CIA Director, John Ratcliffe, confirmed this on March 5.
Maxar allegedly followed an order from Donald Trump’s administration to stop providing satellite data to Ukraine. The State Department said US companies should not give satellite images to Ukraine. However, we cannot confirm these claims.
Ukraine’s cyber community also reported the restriction. They said that free access to satellite pictures has been cut off. A private company can still buy these pictures through a different provider, according to Cyberboroshno.
The US has also stopped giving military aid to Ukraine as part of an effort to get President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russia to talk peace. Ukraine’s Defense Minister said they are looking for alternative ways to get intelligence from European partners.
