Georgia has emerged as a major player in the high fashion industry, with designers from the country making waves in Europe and America. One such designer is Maya Tavadze, who has gained recognition for her unique and innovative designs that draw inspiration from her Georgian roots.
Tavadze’s journey in the fashion world began early on, as she was surrounded by artists and designers in her family. Her natural talent for drawing and creating beautiful designs led her to pursue a career in fashion. She has worked in various countries, including Ukraine, Central Asia, and Russia, gaining valuable experience and honing her skills.
Before establishing her own brand, Maya was one of the first designers to introduce high fashion to Tbilisi, showing her foresight and passion for the industry. She is the founder of “Maya Tavadze Fashion House” and the director of “Universal Productions,” where she organizes international beauty contests, fashion shows, and festivals. She is also a content creator for her own self-styled brand.
In an interview with GEORGIA TODAY, Maya shared her journey and vision for her brand. “Fashion is not just a job for me, it’s a lifestyle and my passion. It allows me to feel completely free and each fashion show, contest, or event pushes me to surpass new levels and come up with something new, smarter, better, and more beautiful. I can’t imagine myself doing a boring job.”
Maya’s passion for fashion led her to start a magazine in Georgia in 1998, at a time when such publications were unheard of. The magazine, called “MODEL,” focused on fashion and covered the latest trends and events in Georgia and around the world. Maya recalls the challenges she faced in creating the magazine, as there were no professional photographers or make-up artists at the time. Despite these obstacles, the magazine was a success and showcased the fashionable life in Georgia.
Maya’s journey in the fashion industry is a testament to her determination and passion for her craft. She continues to push boundaries and create unique designs that showcase the beauty and creativity of Georgia.
