**Ukraine Defense Contact Group Meets Again**
The next meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) will take place on February 12. This time, the United Kingdom will lead the group instead of the United States.
According to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, this change happened because of a shift in the US administration under President Donald Trump. The future of Ramstein meetings was uncertain after Trump took office. The UK has also signaled a different approach to dealing with Ukraine compared to the current US strategy.
The German Defense Minister, Boris Pistorius, said earlier that the next summit would be held in Brussels before the Munich Security Conference on February 14-16. He did not reveal what form the meeting would take, saying it depended on the new US administration.
**NATO Takes Over Some Functions**
Some of Ramstein’s functions have already been transferred to NATO. The NSATU (NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine) mission has started in Wiesbaden, Germany. This mission helps countries fulfill their promises to supply weapons to Ukraine.
The UDCG is a group of over 50 countries, including all 32 NATO members. They meet at the US Ramstein Air Base in Germany. The last meeting was on January 9 and marked the 25th gathering since its establishment in April 2022.
**Protecting Ukrainian Airspace**
During the last meeting, one of the main topics discussed was protecting Ukraine’s airspace. This included providing new air defense systems to help keep Ukraine safe from attacks.
