**World Leaders May Visit Washington to Discuss Peace in Ukraine**
President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, French President Emmanuel Macron, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer may visit the US capital as early as next week. Their trip is aimed at presenting a “united front” on peace in Ukraine.
The meeting would follow a televised clash between Zelensky and US President Donald Trump on February 28. The two leaders had planned to sign a mineral deal, but it was derailed after their heated argument. This incident led to the US halting military aid for Ukraine.
Macron and Starmer have been trying to mend the rift between Kyiv and the White House since they visited Washington days before Zelensky. On March 4, Zelensky issued a statement calling the Oval Office clash “regrettable” while expressing readiness to work toward peace under Trump’s leadership.
Zelensky proposed initial steps toward peace, including prisoner releases and ceasefires in the air and sea. Macron had previously mentioned these proposals. The three leaders hope to discuss their plan with Trump during their potential visit to Washington.
The news comes as the US administration is upending years of policy on Ukraine and Russia, casting doubt on its commitment to European security. Starmer and Macron have been leading voices in efforts to boost Europe’s defense capabilities and assistance for Ukraine.
