**Russia‘s War Death Toll Soars**
An independent Russian media outlet, Mediazona, and BBC Russia have confirmed the names of 79,819 Russian soldiers killed since the start of Russia’s war in Ukraine.
As Vladimir Putin announced a new nuclear-capable missile system, fears of nuclear escalation grew. Mediazona reported nearly 2,700 more Russian military deaths over the past two weeks. The death toll includes:
* 17,000 volunteers
* 14,500 recruited prisoners
* 9,700 mobilized soldiers
The actual number of deaths is likely much higher, as journalists relied on public sources like obituaries, social media posts, and local news reports.
**Widespread Violence in Russian Military Ranks**
The report comes amid growing evidence of violence within Russian military ranks. Two commanders were arrested for confining subordinates in dog cages, and a pro-Kremlin American volunteer was killed in a military detention facility.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale war on February 22, 2022, over 4,364 Russian officers have been killed in combat in Ukraine.
**Russia’s Losses in Ukraine Exceed 700,000**
Russian losses in Ukraine had exceeded 700,000 by November 4. These numbers include all categories: those killed, wounded, missing, or captured. They align with estimates from Western nations.
