**Lithuanian MEP Speaks in Tbilisi**
A Lithuanian member of the European Parliament (MEP) visited Tbilisi and met with journalists. Dainius Žalimas said that he agrees with the position that the recent parliamentary elections were not fair. He also supports President Salome Zurabishvili.
Žalimas discussed ways to work together with civil society groups and Georgian democratic forces. He believes that new, fair elections are needed in Georgia. These elections should be supervised by international organizations and follow European standards.
**EU Sanctions**
When asked about the EU’s decision not to impose sanctions on Bidzina Ivanishvili, Žalimas said that the EU makes decisions by consensus. This means that all member countries must agree on a decision. He believes that it will take time for the EU to make a decision, but it is likely that sanctions will be imposed eventually.
Žalimas made his comments after the US government recently took action against Ivanishvili.
