MEP Hans Neuhoff Defends Georgia’s Election Process
The parliamentary elections in Georgia were fair and democratic, says MEP Hans Neuhoff. He spoke at the European Parliament, defending the election process.
Neuhoff was part of an observation mission to monitor the elections. He said there was no pressure on voters or candidates. The opposition had freedom to participate and express their views on the government.
The OSCE reported a few incidents during the election, but none that affected its fairness. Neuhoff praised Georgians for being smart and proud people who want to stay out of conflicts between powerful countries.
He also noted that Georgians are open to Europe, but don’t want to be forced into following certain agendas. Neuhoff urged respect for Georgia’s democratic choice and sovereignty.
