**US Leaves Firm Policy for Georgia‘s New Administration**
The US is leaving the new administration in Georgia with a clear and strong policy. This was stated by Michael Carpenter, Senior Director for Europe on the U.S. National Security Council.
According to Carpenter, the US has taken several steps to support democracy in Georgia. These include freezing all forms of aid worth over 95 billion dollars and sanctioning many officials involved in anti-democratic actions. The sanctions were aimed at those who suppressed protests and civil society.
One of the key individuals sanctioned was Bidzina Ivanishvili, a top decision-maker in Georgia. He has been linked to foreign policies similar to Russia‘s and China’s. Carpenter said that these actions were taken by the outgoing administration.
**Georgians Decide Their Own Fate**
Ultimately, according to Carpenter, the fate of Georgia is for its people to decide. The US policy aims to support democracy and human rights in the country.
