**German Official Urges New Elections in Georgia**
A top German official has called for new elections to be held in Georgia. Michael Roth, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag, made his appeal while speaking in Tbilisi, the Georgian capital.
Roth described the situation in Georgia as a “serious conflict between autocracy and liberal democracy”. He said that the current state of affairs was not an internal dispute within the country, but rather a clash between two different systems. Roth emphasized that new elections were needed to restore trust in the government.

Roth stated that free and fair elections were necessary to address the problems in Georgia. He also welcomed sanctions imposed on those responsible for violating human rights and rigging elections. The German official called on his colleagues in the European Union to continue supporting the Georgian people.

The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee met with opposition leaders, who were united in demanding new elections.
