German Politician Demands Action on Georgia
Michael Roth, chairman of the German Bundestag’s Foreign Affairs Committee, spoke out on social media about the situation in Georgia. He shared a statement from EU High Representative Kaja Kallas.
Roth said that words alone are not enough to address the crisis in Georgia. He called for action, saying that people should travel to Georgia and support the country’s people who risk their lives for European values.
Kalla’s had previously criticized the government in Tbilisi for its handling of peaceful protests. She stated that the crackdown on protesters, journalists, and politicians was unacceptable and that Georgia was failing to meet expectations as a candidate country for the EU.
Roth emphasized that action should be taken against those responsible for violence and oppression. He also called for fair and free elections in the country.
