Some members of the ruling party have called us enemies. After the meeting with President of Georgia, Mikhail Roth, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee in the German Parliament (Bundestag), said: “We are not enemies. We are friends. I’m sorry. But ask the ruling party, why they didn’t wish to meet us.”
According to him the members of the delegaion are in Georgia as friends for the Georgian people and in a democracy that is alive, moments of conflict in politics are common.
Roth says there are serious questions about the legitimacy of the Georgian elections and that an independent foreign investigation is needed.
“Sorry but ask the ruling group why they didn’t meet us. In a democracy that is alive, it’s normal to have moments of conflict in politics. This is the essence. We are friends. We often agree, but we also disagree. Some members of the ruling party refer to us as enemies. We are not enemies.
I have already expressed serious doubts regarding the legitimacy of the elections, and it’s clear that these doubts are so grave that we will request an investigation by a foreign country. Roth said, “This is the only opportunity to restore trust.”
