Former Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze has written on Facebook about why he agreed to a public debate with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
Janelidze says his goal is not to represent any political party or group. He wants to speak out against people who are influenced by Russian propaganda.
He believes that by participating in the public discussion, he can reach more people who might be under Russian influence. Janelidze also says that Prime Minister Kobakhidze’s presence will draw attention from these groups.
Janelidze writes “In power!” on Facebook, suggesting that he wants to use his platform to speak out against those who are controlled by Russia.
A public discussion is being held tonight at 10 pm on the Georgian Public Broadcaster. The topic is the government‘s decision to suspend accession negotiations with the European Union until the end of 2028.
Prime Minister Kobakhidze and Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili will represent the government side, while former Ministers Tina Khidasheli and Mikheil Janelidze will be on the other side.
