**Georgia‘s Path to EU Membership**
Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili spoke at a conference for ambassadors about the country’s journey towards European Union membership. Despite current challenges, he said Georgia will implement almost 90% of the Association Agreement by 2028 and be ready to join the EU by 2030.
Kavelashvili emphasized that Georgia’s European integration process continues, despite “artificial agitation” and disinformation campaigns in the country. He urged that such speculations be met with truth and facts.
**EU Membership Goals**
The President outlined specific goals for Georgia‘s EU membership:
– By 2028: Almost 90% of the Association Agreement will be implemented.
– By 2030: Georgia will be best prepared to join the European Union.
Kavelashvili added that Georgia is ready to start negotiations at any time.
**US Relations**
The President also discussed relations between Georgia and the United States. He noted that there are expectations for improved ties under the new US administration, with a focus on eliminating misunderstandings and reflecting priorities in their Charter of Strategic Relations.
Kavelashvili reaffirmed Georgia’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with the US, citing its importance for both countries.
