Mikheil Saakashvili, the former President of Georgia, has made some strong comments on social media. He was responding to a visit by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset.
Saakashvili said that in 2004, the Secretary General at that time, Walter Schumer, came to Georgia to save Aslan Abashidze. However, this visit did not go well and was unsuccessful.
Saakashvili also made a serious accusation against the Council of Europe. He claimed that the secretaries general of the organization are often bribed by dictators. One example he gave was of a secretary general who received a plot of land in Moscow for free.
