The resettlement process for displaced persons is moving at an abnormally fast pace. The number of displaced families who are satisfied has exceeded 35,000. Mikheil Sarjveladze, Minister of IDPs, Labor, Health and Social Protection from Occupied Territory, spoke about the current projects.
Construction is underway in five cities of Georgia, according to the minister. Construction is in full swing in Tbilisi. We are nearing completion in Kutaisi. In the very near term, apartments will be given to families in Borjomi and Rustavi. Construction will begin soon in Zugdidi.
Resettlement is done on the basis of a clear regulation and an individual assessment of each family. The need of the family is the main determinant. A decision is then made. This is preceded by an evaluation process that can be time-consuming. “Even today, this process is underway in Kutaisi where we are evaluating the questionnaire data, and in particular, visiting families,” said Mikheil Sajveladze.
The Minister noted that the resettlement of IDPs was actively underway and that the state would fully fulfill its obligations.
