**Ukraine Targets Russian Command Post in Kursk Oblast**
On December 25, Ukrainian troops hit the command post of Russia’s 810th Guards Naval Infantry Brigade in Lgov, a town in Kursk Oblast. The attack was reported by Ukraine’s Center for Strategic Communications.
The Russian command post was located in an abandoned civilian building, according to Ukrainian military officials. They said this was part of their effort to weaken the ability of Russian forces to coordinate attacks on Ukraine.
**Civilian Casualties**
However, Kursk Oblast acting governor Alexander Khinshtein claimed that Ukraine’s attack also hit civilian facilities and infrastructure in Lgov, killing four people and injuring five others. This claim is not verified by The Kyiv Independent.
Videos shared on Russian Telegram channels appear to show a damaged high-rise building and cars, but these claims have not been confirmed.
**Previous Fighting**
Lgov has seen intense fighting between Ukrainian and Russian troops before. In August, Ukraine captured dozens of settlements in Kursk Oblast. However, by November, Ukraine had lost over 40% of the territory it previously gained.
**Russian Troop Deployment**
It was reported that Russia deployed over 10,000 North Korean soldiers to help drive out Ukrainian forces. President Volodymyr Zelensky said that more than 3,000 North Korean soldiers have been killed or injured in this conflict.
