The General Staff reported that on October 9, Ukraine’s military destroyed a base near the village Oktyabrsky, in Russia’s Kranodar Krai, which was storing Iranian Shahed drones. These drones are used by Russia to launch daily attacks against Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the war, Tehran has supplied Moscow with thousands Shahed Kamikaze drones. In September, Russia launched more than 1,300 drones at Ukraine. They were launched daily for a month.
According to reports, the Russian base was home to 400 attack drones.
According to the statement the attack was carried by the Ukrainian Navy and units of Security Service of Ukraine.
General Staff stated that the subsequent detonation had been recorded after the attack.
The military stated that “according to the results from objective control, a precise hit on the target has been recorded”, without providing any further details on the extent of the damage.
The General Staff said that the destruction of the Shahed drones base would significantly reduce the ability for the Russian occupiers terrorize civilians living in Ukrainian towns and villages.
The Kyiv independent could not verify the claims.
Ukraine’s General Staff reports that a drone strike overnight on Oct. 9 destroyed a Russian weapons storage depot in Bryansk Oblast that contained North Korean ammunition.
