**Russia Spreads Propaganda in Occupied Ukraine**
The Russian government is expanding its propaganda reach in occupied Ukrainian territories. A new broadcast network is being developed to spread pro-Russian messages, according to the National Resistance Center (NRC).
**Record Investment in State Media**
Russia plans to spend a record $1.4 billion on state media and propaganda in 2025. This is a 13% increase from last year’s spending. The money will be used to rebuild radio and television networks in occupied areas.
**Spreading Misinformation**
The Russian government claims that the invasion of Ukraine is necessary to defend against “Western aggression” and threats to Russian-speaking populations. However, this narrative distorts facts and spreads misinformation about Ukraine being a “puppet of NATO“.
**Blocking Independent Information**
Access to independent information sources is being blocked in occupied areas. The NRC has urged residents of free territories to share accurate information with their relatives and friends in occupied areas.
**Concerns for Residents**
The NRC has expressed concerns that the propaganda program will brainwash a larger portion of the population. This includes plans to extend signal coverage to all captured settlements.
