**Russia Helps Abkhazia with Electricity**
Georgia’s Russian-held Abkhazia region is facing a major energy crisis. Local authorities said that Russia has started providing electricity aid to the region. The energy company Chernomorenergo reported that a new schedule is in effect, where electricity will be unavailable for four hours per day.
Abkhazia had previously faced long periods of power shutdowns, with some days seeing no electricity at all. The crisis was worsened by a dispute between Abkhazia and Russia over a controversial investment agreement. Russia then cut funding to the region’s energy sector.
