**Ukraine Hit by Russian Cyberattack**
A cyberattack on Ukraine’s government services, including state registries, has left the country facing serious challenges. The attack was carried out last week and targeted several government services, including those overseen by the Justice Ministry.
The attackers appeared to have inside knowledge of the servers’ internal architecture, making it easier for them to breach the system. Oleksandr Fedienko, head of the parliamentary subcommittee on cybersecurity, said that the attackers could have used phishing or bribed employees to gain access to the registries.
Fortunately, the targeted databases had backups, which means that the registers can be restored in a week or two. However, this is not the first time Ukraine has been hit by a cyberattack. The country’s government services were previously targeted by Russian hackers, and officials say that the attack was prepared for months.
**Russian Military Attack**
In other news, Russia launched a massive military attack on Ukraine overnight, using 72 Shahed-type drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles. Ukraine’s Air Force reported shooting down 52 of these attack drones, including the Shahed type. However, the country lost track of 44 decoy drones that were launched alongside the real attack drones.
The Russian military also claimed to have shot down 20 drones over Oryol Oblast, which targeted fuel and energy infrastructure facilities. Ukraine’s Air Force reported a total of 1,990 casualties suffered by Russian forces just over the past day.
**International Response**
The international community is continuing to show its support for Ukraine. The United States has provided military aid to the country, and Germany has pledged to provide further support. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said that Italy will do everything it can to help Ukraine defend itself against Russia’s aggression.
In other news, North Korea is preparing to deploy additional troops and weapons, including kamikaze drones, to aid Russia in its full-scale war against Ukraine. The South Korean military made this announcement on December 23.
**Fire at Drone Warehouse**
A large-scale fire broke out at a Shahed drone warehouse at the Alabuga Special Economic Zone in Russia’s Tatarstan, destroying drone parts worth $16 million. This is believed to be an attempt by Ukraine’s military intelligence (HUR) to disrupt Russia’s drone program.
