**Mtavari TV Off the Air**
Mtavari TV, a station known for its opposition views, has been off the air since February 15. The station claims that one of its co-founders, Zaza Okuashvili, is trying to shut it down.
**Why Is Mtavari TV Off the Air?**
According to Mtavari TV, Okuashvili created a financial crisis by withholding payments to service providers. The channel says this was done on purpose and is trying to silence Mtavari TV’s critical reporting.
**Opposition Reacts**
The leader of the opposition Coalition for Change, Nika Gvaramia, said that an explanation is simple: Okuashvili has been suspending funding for the station. Gvaramia founded Mtavari TV in 2019.
**Okuashvili’s Response**
Zaza Okuashvili accused Giorgi Gabunia, Mtavari TV’s general director, and Nika Gvaramia of “financial manipulation” that led to Mtavari TV’s “artificial bankruptcy”.
**What’s Next for Mtavari TV?**
For now, the station will only air pre-recorded programs, reruns, series, and films. They are working to find alternative funding to restore full broadcasting.
