Billionaire Elon Musk, a friend of President-elect Donald Trump, stopped a plan to prevent the government from shutting down. This happened even though both parties in Congress agreed on the proposal.
Musk used social media to express his opposition. He made more than 100 posts with false information about the plan. His posts were against the proposal that aimed to keep the government running smoothly.
The proposal would have been a win for both Republicans and Democrats. But Musk’s actions blocked it from happening. This now means the government might shut down if no other solution is found soon.
Musk and Trump are known friends. They were even seen together at a campaign event last year in Pennsylvania. The photo shows them standing side by side, smiling.
