**Weak Russian Drone Attack on Ukraine**
On the night of December 29, Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russia launched a small number of drones against Mykolaiv Oblast. This was unusual because typically, Russia launches around 80-120 explosive and decoy drones across most Ukrainian regions every day.
**Ten Drones Fired at One Region**
Only ten Shahed-type drones were fired from Crimea overnight on December 29, targeting just one region in Ukraine. The Air Force said this was a significant departure from the usual daily attacks. It’s possible that Russia is saving more drones for New Year’s Eve and Day attacks.
**Air Defense Units Successful**
Ukrainian air defense units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire groups were able to successfully intercept nine of the ten Shahed-type drones fired at Mykolaiv Oblast.
**Two Separate Attacks in Mykolaiv Oblast**
There were two separate drone attacks in Mykolaiv Oblast on December 28 and 29. On December 28, Russian forces targeted Ochakiv with Shahed-131/Shahed-136 drones, causing fires in three utility buildings and a guest house in a recreational area. No one was injured.
On the night of December 29, another attack targeted the Chornomorsk community, resulting in a hit on an unused building and a fire at an administrative building of an energy infrastructure facility. One employee was injured in this incident.
**S-300 Missiles Fired**
Russian forces also fired six S-300/S-400 surface-to-air missiles from Russia’s Belgorod Oblast at Sumy and Kursk oblasts. However, it is unclear what the target of these missiles was.
