**NATO Countries Under Attack**
In recent years, there have been sabotage acts in NATO countries. These acts include threats to kill leaders of the weapons industry. One example is Armin Papperger, the CEO of Rheinmetall, a German arms maker.
**Russian Invasion Leads to More Sabotage**
Since Russia invaded Ukraine, Russian attacks on NATO countries have become more frequent. These attacks aim to make it hard for NATO countries to support Ukraine. This includes threats to kill industry leaders like Armin Papperger.
**Threats Against Rheinmetall CEO Confirmed**
NATO’s James Appathurai confirmed that there were threats against Armin Papperger. These threats had been reported in the media before, but now they are official. In 2024, intelligence found a Russian-linked plot to kill Papperger. After this, Germany gave Papperger top-level security.
**Other Attacks**
There have also been other attacks on NATO countries. For example, supporters of the RAF movement burned down Papperger’s garden house in April 2024. They accused him of making money from arms sales.
**NATO Responds**
Appathurai said that NATO has stopped some Russian sabotage acts by setting clear rules. One example is when incendiary devices were found on DHL flights in a German warehouse.
**NATO Wants to Improve Security**
NATO wants to agree on a plan to stop hybrid threats before the alliance‘s summit in June. This is because there have been many attacks, especially in the Baltic Sea area. NATO allies understand that they need to be more prepared to respond to these incidents.
