**NATO Urges Member States to Help Ukraine with Medium-Range Missiles**
The NATO Parliamentary Assembly has adopted a resolution that asks member countries to give Ukraine medium-range missiles. These missiles can target Russian strategic positions from far away.
The head of Ukraine’s permanent delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Yehor Chernev, said that the resolution is talking about missiles with a range of 1,000 to 5,500 kilometers. He used the US-made Tomahawk missile as an example of what Ukraine needs.
**Ukraine Wants to Deter Russian Aggression**
The Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, had proposed a “victory plan” that included deploying non-nuclear strategic deterrence on Ukrainian territory. This was rejected by some Western countries, but they did leak to the media that Ukraine wanted US Tomahawk missiles.
**What Does the Resolution Say?**
The resolution adopted by the NATO Parliamentary Assembly includes several recommendations to help Ukraine’s military. These include:
* Increasing long-term security assistance
* Making sure that defense spending is higher across all NATO members
* Delivering advanced weaponry, such as air defense systems and multi-role fighter jets
**NATO Condemns Russia**
The assembly also condemned Russia for its ongoing aggression and war crimes in Ukraine. It reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ukraine’s path to full membership and pledged a minimum funding baseline of €40 billion within the next year.
Chernev emphasized that equipping Ukraine with advanced missile systems is crucial to effectively countering Russian aggression.
