NATO members are committed to supporting Georgia and Ukraine in their eventual NATO membership. The annual report by NATO Secretary General Jens Stltenberg states this.
The report states that “Allies are committed to supporting the eventual NATO Membership of Georgia and Ukraine in accordance with decisions taken at 2008 Bucharest Summit, and reaffirmed at the 2022 Madrid Summit“.
According to the document, the Allies agreed in April to increase their political and practical assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BH), Georgia (GE) and the Republic of Moldova to help them develop their capabilities, strengthen their institutions, and maintain their political independence.
“Georgia aspires towards joining the Alliance and is one of NATO’s closest partners.” Over time, a wide range of practical co-operation has supported Georgia’s efforts to reform and its goal of Euroatlantic integration. The report states that the deteriorating security climate resulting from Russia’s war of aggression towards Ukraine has a significant impact on Georgia.
