**Ukraine’s Navy Claims Success in Destroying Russian Air Defense Systems**
On January 6, Ukraine’s Navy reported that two Russian anti-missile Pantsir-S1 systems and one OSA anti-aircraft vehicle were damaged or destroyed. The military branch claimed this success on their Facebook page.
The Ukrainian Navy Commander, Oleksii Neizhpapa, said in a post that “our soldiers continue to turn Russian equipment into scrap metal.” He shared a video showing a drone targeting a Russian Pantsir-S1 vehicle. The two Pantsir-S1 systems were reportedly destroyed in the occupied territory of Ukraine’s Kherson Oblast.
**High-Value Targets Destroyed**
A single Pantsir S-1 system costs around $15 million. One such system is suspected to have been involved in the mistaken downing of an Azerbaijani plane on December 25. The Pantsir-S1 and OSA systems are highly mobile, short-range surface-to-air missile systems still used by Russia and Ukraine.
**Russian Military Losses Continue**
Russia has lost a total of 1,034 air defense systems since the full-scale invasion began, according to Ukraine’s Armed Forces. This latest success brings the total number of destroyed Russian air defense systems to 1,036.
