The Navy reported that the Angels special intelligence unit evacuated the family of a Ukrainian Naval Officer persecuted and abused by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) from the occupied Crimea.
The operation was ordered and carried out by Navy Commander Oleksii Nezhpapa. The operation was secretly planned and “successfully executed” in a short period of time, according to a statement.
The family of four, including the officer’s parents and sister, was detained on September 18 in Russian-occupied Crimea.
The Navy stated that the Navy held them illegally for three days and subjected them to psychological pressures and threats of torture.
The occupying forces planned to convince the Ukrainian officer of cooperation in this way.
The family was released from custody on Sept. 20, on condition that the officer contact the FSB in five days. The family could be facing “years of prison” if they don’t.
The Navy said that “the family was evacuated under the noses” of the occupiers.
The Kyiv independent could not verify this report.
