**UK Plans Military Sessions to Prepare for Ukraine Ceasefire**
The UK will hold three more days of military planning sessions next week. This is to prepare high-level plans on mobilizing a European-led “coalition of the willing” in case of a ceasefire in Ukraine.
**Coalition Talks**
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced last month that a number of European nations are working together to create a coalition of the willing. This includes the UK and France, which plan to send troops to secure a successful ceasefire in Ukraine.
**Talks with World Leaders**
Starmer will hold phone calls with world leaders next week, including the President of the European Commission and the leaders of Turkey, Norway, and Iceland. He will discuss new military sub-planning groups across land, sea, air, regeneration, and reconstruction.
The UK and France have spearheaded the idea of deploying European peacekeepers in Ukraine to monitor a potential ceasefire. However, any coalition will need strong US backing to succeed.
**Ceasefire Agreed**
Ukraine and Russia agreed to a temporary ceasefire on energy infrastructure strikes last month, following discussions led by US President Donald Trump. Over 30 countries have expressed willingness to contribute troops to the coalition’s peacekeeping force.
