Georgian Leader Criticizes European PMs for Supporting Regime
Nika Gvaramia, leader of the “Coalition for Change,” spoke out against the Georgian regime and criticized two European prime ministers for supporting them. He made his comments during a joint press conference with European MPs in the European Parliament.
Gvaramia named individuals who he said truly represent Georgia‘s people. He mentioned President Salome Zourabichvili as the only legitimate representative of the Georgian people. Gvaramia also highlighted Mzia Amaghlobeli, a journalist on hunger strike for over 25 days, as a hostage of the regime. She is fighting not just for her own rights but for Georgia‘s future.
Gvaramia criticized specific individuals and groups that he said are responsible for the suffering of Georgians. He mentioned Irakli Dgebuadze, who represents the Batumi police, and Grigol Beselia, the head of Batumi police. Gvaramia also named a young judge who sentenced Mzia Amaghlobeli.
Gvaramia addressed Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. He criticized them for supporting individuals who have tortured and imprisoned Georgians. “These people are in prison, and they represent Georgia—not the prosecutors, judges, and police officers who torture them,” Gvaramia said.
