Opposition Parties Make Promise to People
The leader of “Coalition for Changes”, Nika Gvaramia, has made a public promise on social media. He asked opposition parties who have passed the barrier to also make this promise.
Gvaramia said that there is no need to keep the backdoor open to enter Parliament. He wants them to stop making up legal excuses and simply promise not to let anyone from their list into Parliament.
He wrote: “Stop playing with words. We did what the people asked, so we shouldn’t look for reasons why you can’t be in Parliament. Just say that no one from your list will be allowed to enter.”
Some parties have already applied to cancel their lists and take their candidates out of the running. The leaders of these parties made statements about this.
The leader of “Unity – National Movement” said that his party’s position hasn’t changed. They still don’t want to join Parliament for a long time. He said they will submit a written application, not 80 different ones.
Another party, “Gakharia for Georgia”, said that these actions by the opposition will disappoint voters. They think it’s just a game based on what the law doesn’t say.
