**Leader Condemns Saakashvili‘s Prison Sentence**
The leader of the Coalition for Change, Nika Gvaramia, has spoken out against the 9-year prison sentence given to Mikheil Saakashvili. Saakashvili was sentenced in a case involving the misappropriation of budget funds.
Gvaramia called the decision “shameful” on social media platform Facebook. He said that the court and prosecution had never done anything more disgraceful than this decision. Gvaramia also mentioned the “Jacket Case”, a reference to another high-profile case in which Saakashvili was involved.
Saakashvili, Georgia’s third president, was sentenced for embezzling public funds. Another person involved in the case, Teimuraz Janashia, was fined 300,000 GEL (Georgian Lari).
