After the meeting with President Zurabishvili, Nika Gvaramia – one of the leaders of the “Coalition for Change” – stated that they were very satisfied with the progress made.
Salome Zurabishvili, he said, was not given a choice for the position of Prime Minister during the “Coalition for Change”.
“No, nobody has proposed us as a candidate [for prime minister]. We are loyal to the charter where it states that we agree with both the technical and the transitional government. We signed it and we will never change our mind. The offer also states that the president is a leading figure. I won’t go into details. We are very pleased with the progress we have made. We fully support President Salome Zurabishvili and this process.
Gvaramia added, “We also heard very important information about her foreign trip which is related to Georgia’s European integration in the European Union”.
Gvaramia also spoke about the impeachment and said that “Georgian Dream’s” propaganda will not be able shift the focus away from the main issues.
Today, “Georgian Dream”, shamefully decided to punish President for this [foreign visit] and started the procedure of impeachment. “Georgian Dream’s” propaganda will not be able to divert attention from the main issues. This is fiction. The “Georgian Dream”, as Nika Gvaramia put it, is failing.
As a matter of information, the President has begun consultations with opposition parties about the composition of the so called technical government and the candidate to the position of PM.
We also remind you that “Georgian Dream”, is once again launching the impeachment process of the President Salome Zurabishvili of Georgia.
According to the explanation given by the Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili the reason for the decision was still unauthorised visits abroad.
According to him the new constitutional proposal would be submitted to Georgia’s Constitutional Court before the parliamentary election.
