Georgian Politician Reacts to New Presidential Candidate
Nika Melia, a leader of the “Coalition for Change”, has spoken out against Mikheil Kavelashvili’s candidacy for president of Georgia. He was presented as a candidate by the ruling party “Georgian Dream”.
Melia says that if anyone should be humiliated, it is the deputies and voters of “Georgian Dream”. He believes they have been made to feel that they do not represent anything.
Kavelashvili has been put forward as a presidential candidate. Melia thinks this is not surprising because other prominent figures from the party, such as Kakha Kaladze and Irakli Gharibashvili, hold important positions.
Melia says that Bidzina Ivanishvili, honorary chairman of “Georgian Dream”, does not see anything wrong with Kavelashvili becoming president. He points out that Ivanishvili himself has a lot of influence in the party and is not well-educated or experienced in government.
Melia believes that if someone without higher education can become part of the Georgian Dream team, then people will think about whether Ivanishvili should be the future leader of the country.
