Christmas Tree Event Falls Flat
Kakha Kaladze, a high-ranking official, told local administrators to bring people to the Christmas tree lighting ceremony. He also asked them to bring children along.
The instructions were specific: some areas had to bring 1,000 people and others 500. But when the day arrived, only about 500 people showed up. And almost none of them were children.
Instead of a big crowd, the area was filled with party supporters and protesters. They seemed to be enjoying themselves, but it wasn’t what Kaladze had planned for the Christmas tree event.
