**Fighting for Freedom**
The leader of the “Coalition for Change“, Nika Melia, said that the current process in Georgia is not a party process. It’s about fighting for freedom and the future.
Last week, the government announced it was giving up on joining Europe. But many Georgians disagree and are protesting against this decision. The struggle for freedom and independence is something that no one can stop, Melia said.
The government has been using force to try to stop the protests. They have arrested opposition leaders, searched their offices, and used police forces to attack protesters. Yesterday, people were even detained in metro stations just for waving the Georgian flag.
**Police Involved in Repression**
Melia claimed that some of the people who attacked protesters were actually former or active policemen, not “Titushkas” (a group of civilians hired by the government to cause trouble). One of them was Mirian Kavtaradze, a former head of the Gldani police department.
The leader of the “Coalition for Change” said that all those people wearing masks are actually policemen. This has been confirmed, he added.
**Opposition Leaders Attacked**
Several opposition leaders and activists were attacked yesterday, including Saba Skhvitaridze who was badly beaten. Zura Datunashvili was arrested during the process.
**Fighting for Freedom is a Privilege**
Nika Melia said that fighting for freedom is not just about political parties, but about a state process. It’s about standing up for what’s right and refusing to give up. The firmness and stubbornness of every person are draining the energy of the current regime and bringing us closer to victory.
**People Within the Regime Refuse to Cooperate**
It’s welcome that more and more people within the regime are refusing to perform tasks that go against Georgian interests, Melia said.
