**Opposition Demands EU Action**
The opposition in Georgia is demanding action from the European Union. They have sent a joint letter to the EU, complaining about the elections held on October 26.
The letter was written by several opposition parties, including “Coalition for Change”, “Unity National Movement”, and “Strong Georgia”. They are asking the EU to suspend all official communications with the current government until they agree to an international investigation into the elections. The opposition also wants financial aid from the EU to be suspended.
**Not a Surprise**
One of the leaders of the opposition, Nika Melia, said that the letter is not a surprise. He explained that his group has been talking about this issue for 6 days and it’s what they talk about all the time.
“It’s funny when you talk as if it was a secret letter,” he said. “We’ve been talking about this for 5-6 days, and I’m surprised that ‘Georgian Dream‘ is trying to create an agenda with this issue.”
Melia said that the letter contains nothing new or surprising. He wants to know why the government is trying to make a big deal out of it.
**EU Aid at Stake**
The opposition is seeking international pressure on the current government, led by “Georgian Dream“, to investigate the elections. They also want the EU to stop giving financial aid until the investigation is complete. This could affect about €120 million in funding per year.
