Lubinets, the Ukrainian Ombudsman, has informed the UN about the reported executions of nine Ukrainian prisoners.
Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, has informed the United Nations (UN) and the International Committee of the Red Cross(ICRC) of the possible execution of 9 Ukrainian prisoners of War by Russian forces in Kursk Oblast.
Numerous reports indicate that Russian forces executed Ukrainian POWs systematically during the ongoing conflict, violating international law like the Geneva Convention. These violations are confirmed by both Ukrainian and international sources including the United Nations. The Kremlin has denied any involvement in war crimes.
Lubinets sent a Telegram message on October 13:
“Information about the possible shooting by Russians of nine Ukrainian prisoners of war at Kursk Oblast is spreading again on social networks. Such actions are a gross breach of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War.”
