Georgian People Protest on Inauguration Day
Yesterday, the Georgian people made their stance clear: they stood with President Salome Zurabishvili against “Georgian Dream,” a party that was holding its own inauguration.
Head of “Fair Elections” Nino Dolidze spoke at a protest on Rustaveli Avenue. She said the fight for a European and democratic future is not about specific dates, but about winning the struggle. Whatever time it takes, the Georgian people will keep fighting.
It was clear where the Georgian people stood – with President Zurabishvili, while “Georgian Dream” held its inauguration behind closed doors. The main thing that showed today was who the Georgian people see as a legitimate institution: President Zurabishvili.
For Dolidze, it didn’t matter whether President Zurabishvili stayed or left (she was reportedly absent from an event). What mattered is that legitimacy belongs to the president as a person. She respects her decision and says today’s moment did not have decisive importance in this fight.
What matters most is the support of international partners and democratic countries. They continue to communicate with President Zurabishvili, while “Georgian Dream” faces sanctions and pressure. This shows that the democratic world stands by the Georgian people and respects their peaceful struggle for a better future.
